| Overview |
| The Digital Cross-Connect System (DCS or DXC) performs a critical role in a transport or backhaul network. Designed to optimize bandwidth efficiency, these platforms switch and groom access traffic at DS1/E1 granularity for hand-off to the transport network, or for distribution back into the access network. However, with today's rapidly growing capacity demands, scaling legacy DCS/DXC platforms - typically large, power hungry systems that are difficult to manage - becomes increasingly inefficient from both a capital and operational cost perspective. Turin Networks removes these limitations by building optional wideband/low-order bandwidth management functionality into the company's product lines. These next generation DCS (NG-DCS) solutions offer all the functionality of legacy platforms for a fraction of the cost, and in much more economical, versatile and space/power-efficient form factors.
